Technology

Center Lock

The Center Lock system makes an easy rotor installation possible with spline mount and a lock ring. The lock ring mounting system reduces the total working hours by shortening the amount of time of both installation and de-installation. In addition, the secure fixing by the spline mount enhances precision and rigidity while improving braking efficiency.

Quick Engagement

Shimano’s rear road wheels and hubs are equipped with 18/16 notches for quick engagement. In contrast to road racing, MTB XC tracks have many sharp turns and steep hills, where quick engagement is essential. Shimano’s has improved the rear hubs of its high end MTB group sets and wheels and equipped them with 18/16 notches and two sets of pawls to double the engagement and optimize traction.
