Ridescape

The future never looked lighter!

Ridescape enhances the riding experience by boosting the visual richness of the environment in various conditions. Poor vision is not only a distraction, it can decrease confidence, increase hesitation, and cause you to misjudge distances or overlook obstacles until it’s too late. Ridescape scene-specific cycling lenses are scientifically tuned to emphasize colors and highlight the objects and surfaces unique to each riding environment. Environments that would normally be washed out, dull or flat become more clearly defined, vibrant and vivid. Do your eyes and yourself a favor and take a look into the future.

Ridescape lenses have an ultra-clear and lightweight polyamide (PA) substrate with a low refractive index, high Abbe value and superior light transmittance for laser sharp optics. An optical material's refractive index describes how light is bent and slows down as it travels through it. The lower the index the higher the visual clarity. Abbe value is a number that describes the amount of chromatic aberration (colored fringes around an image that cause blurriness). The higher the number the clearer the image.

Ridescape eyewear is so lightweight and comfortable that we wouldn’t be surprised if you forget to take them off—we certainly did during testing. The combination of the ultra-lightweight PA lenses and a carefully balanced design ensure that the only thing this eyewear blurs is the line between rider and glasses. PA Lens is 16.4% lighter than PC Lens.

Lens Technology

Multicoated Lens

Shimano lenses feature a polyamide (PA) or polycarbonate (PC) substrate for superior impact resistance, reduced weight, and performance in a wide range of temperatures.

Full UV400 anti-scratch coatings ensure a clear view under all conditions. All Shimano one-piece lenses feature decentered optics to provide distortion-free vision that reduces eye fatigue.

Impact Tested

Shimano impact test lenses to anticipate real world riding conditions to ensure that our lenses withstand and protect against small incoming obstacles, such as insects, branches, and pebbles.

Repellent Coatings

Oleophobic coatings repel oils and water to help keep lenses clearer and cleaner. This coating also reduces fingerprint smudges and lens stains. *S-Phyre exclusive coating

All Shimano eyewear lenses have hydrophobic coatings on both sides to help rain, sweat, and splashes roll off for a clearer view. *Not used with S-Phyre eyewear

RX Technology

Shimano's new AeroLite makes it simple to add a prescription lens to your cycling eyewear. The frame was codeveloped with RX-Clip to attach quickly and securely over the adjustable nose piece.

Photochromic Lens

Photochromic (PH) lenses automatically change visible light transmission percentages when exposed to UV light, so riders don't need to stop and swap lenses when light conditions change. When the surroundings are dark, the lenses are almost clear. When it's bright, the lenses turn a darker hue.
