Energy-Saving Ramp

Ideally supported in steeper terrain. The SM E-Mountain Men significantly improves your seated position while climbing. The steeply rising ramp at the rear gives you a stable, effort-saving hold when climbing uphill. The saddle nose is designed to be particularly wide and comfortable, as the seat position often shifts forward in extremely steep sections.

Deep Relief Channel

Eliminating unwanted pressures. The progressive relief channel, which deepens towards the rear, leads to an opening through the saddle shell. This construction combines all the advantages of a cut-out saddle without the potential disadvantages. It provides more forgiveness and specifically relieves perineal pressures, which often cause discomfort and numbness in the genital area.

OrthoCell®-Pads

Even better than gel. The new OrthoCell® material helps you achieve your best performance without complaints. These inlays, more durable and lighter than gel, ensure the best pressure distribution and provide the highest rebound force. They follow the pelvis's movements with every crank turn, returning to their starting position quickly.

Orthopedic Foam

Comfortable and durable. The orthopedic foam is ergonomic for mountain biking and extremely durable. With OrthoCell® inlays, the pressure of the bony structures is distributed much better, increasing rebound force and dissipating vibrations.

Anti-Friction Side Flanks

Less friction, more movement. Anti-friction side flanks reduce the friction of your thighs on the saddle while pedaling, resulting in less friction and more freedom of movement.

Men’s Health

The Ergon development team conducted intensive research on men’s health. They found that the main cause of discomfort while cycling is the saddle, often leading to pain, discomfort, numbness, and potentially more severe health problems. The SM E-Mountain saddle alleviates this pressure with a specific relief channel and better surface area distribution under the bony structures. The saddle is ergonomically adjusted to the specific anatomy and needs of men based on MRT, CT analysis, many prototypes, and test rider feedback.

More Freedom of Movement

Compared to women, the male pelvis is less flexible, meaning men sit more upright and distribute more weight on their sit bones. The transition area between the rear of the saddle and the saddle nose can thus be kept narrow (Y-shape), providing more space for the legs to pedal.

Male and Female Pelvic Differences

In contrast to the female anatomy, male sit bones are narrower, and the area where the pelvis halves come together is higher. This difference leads to more pressure on the male sit bones versus a broader area in women. This anatomical difference is considered in the saddle's design.

No Pressure on Sensitive Areas

Correct pressure distribution is crucial to protect the sensitive perineal area. The SM E-Mountain saddle shifts pressure to the sit bones and parts of the pubic arch, providing freedom of movement with a flat and even surface and using high-quality foams for support.

The Right Size

The saddle must match the sit bone width of the rider to maximize comfort and enjoyment. The pelvic bone's V-shape necessitates a large contact surface on the saddle, accommodating various sitting positions. Different saddle widths correspond to the rider's unique sit bone distance, with the more forward and aggressive positions shifting the sit bones' contact further forward.
