Features

Ergonomic Approach

For handlebars with a pronounced bend to the rear, conventional grips cause the wrist to bend in an unnatural way. The consequences are discomfort and pain of various kinds. The GC1 is anatomically and ergonomically shaped for this type of handlebar, correcting hand positions and preventing common grip discomforts.

Nerve Relief

When riding, your hands support much of your upper body weight on the handlebars, placing a great deal of weight distribution on a relatively small grip area. In many cases, this pinches the extremely sensitive ulnar nerve that runs near the base of the palm. Prolonged pressure in this area often causes numbness. The wing grip increases the hand’s resting platform area by distributing pressure over a wider surface and thereby preventing discomfort.

Ergonomic Solution

If your wrist is bent too much for too long, nerves, tendons, and blood vessels can become compressed. This constricts the carpal tunnel channel, potentially damaging the median nerve. Long rides and fatigue make it harder for the rider to maintain a correct and healthy posture. The wing design of the GC grips provides more support and automatically positions the wrist ergonomically, preventing numbness, tingling, and pain.

Technologies

Organic

The bio-cork version of the GC1 combines ergonomics, function, and sustainability. The handle consists of 40 percent cork, sourced from organic farming in Portugal, meeting strict ecological guidelines.

Ecologically Sustainable

Sustainability is a priority at Ergon. Under the “GreenLab” initiative, packaging is developed from recycled materials, and products like the GC1 BioKork are made from environmentally friendly materials. All parts of the handle are consistently manufactured in an ecologically sustainable manner.

Playing It Safe

The GC1 Series clamping system is extremely secure and easy to mount. Each grip is tightened with only one bolt to reliably secure its position and prevent twisting. The aluminum clamps are cold forged, resulting in a stronger structure.

Feel-Good Grip

Minimum friction, maximum comfort: The super soft, UV-resistant, durable compound and specific texture patterns enhance gripping confidence and elevate riding enjoyment with a pleasing touch feel.

Always the Perfect Fit

A special version of the GC1 BioKork is compatible with Rohloff and Nexus grip shifts. For standard shifting, both grips are of the same length, while the version for Rohloff® and Nexus® twist shift systems features a shortened right-side grip.
