The Tundra has been created in response to the increasing technicality in the gravel discipline. Designed for year-round riding, the Tundra is at home on everything from muddy woodland trails to super technical rocky descents. All while maintaining the fast rolling speed Hutchinson tyres are renowned for, to tackl hard-packed gravel and roads linking the trails.

Technologies

127 TPI

When you need to maximize every watt, look to our race tyres with 127tpi casings. There’s no lighter, more flexible tire casing technology to ensure the highest efficiency under power, cornering feel, and responsiveness.

The 127 TPI casing is the optimal option when looking for high-performance. Flexible and light to help produce high rolling performance.

Bi-Compound

Thanks to our road and mountain bike expertise, we have developed a bi-compound meant to meet worldwide versatility : ensuring maximum comfort and safety on rough terrains as well as performance, either on or off-road. A softer and more flexible side compound reinforce the grip and deformation, while the central harder compound ensures rolling performance.

Hutchinson’s bi-compoung has been a key asset in the development of the Touareg. R&D challenge was to find the very best compromise between the tyre’s souplesse / casing flexibility, reinforcement, optimal weight and high performance, to meet the best gravel cyclists needs.

The worldwide versatility of the Touareg is also in part thanks to the continued development in the architecture of its knobs. The smaller and more compact small-bllocks contribute to comfort and performance, on both rough terrain and smooth tarmac. In contrast, the large amount of knobs and their greater spacing, mean the Touareg has grip on various types of wet hardpack terrain (road, roots, stones) and dry conditions (gravel, sand, dust).

Hutchinson’s bi-compound is also a key asset in the development of many other gravel, road and mountain bike tyres.

Hardskin

Get full-coverage flat protection with Hardskin. Originally created for our mountain bike tyres, this hardy fabric grid layer is integrated into the casing to fend off punctures and cuts from sharp objects. Bead-to-bead coverage means you’re protected on the sidewalls as well as the tread, but it won’t change that sweet Hutchinson ride quality you love.

In addition to the rubber thickness, Hutchinson’s Hardskin reinforcement offers additional protection against sharp stones, rocks and any other hostile material found on rough terrain. This bead to bead shield can be found throughout Hutchinson’s mountain bike and gravel range and has been thoroughly proven in XC Marathon races.

Unlimited Gravel

Its gravel specific tread profile has been meticulously designed to give the rider a more secure feel through the most technical of routes. Using Hutchinson’s MTB expertise and drawing inspiration from our Black Mamba tyre, it is ready to tackle off camber singletrack, greasy roots and loose descents.

Engineered for unrivalled performance in the mud, we have removed all but the most important tread blocks, leaving as much room as possible for mud clearance.

As a Hutchinson tyre the Tundra is Tubeless Ready and utilises a range of technologies to keep riders rolling, no matter how tough the conditions become.

The tan wall version is made in France and reinforced with a layer of Hardskin textile grid that stretches from bead to bead to ensure optimum puncture resistance. While the bi-compound rubber ensures a hard wearing central tread is matched by incredible grip in the corners.

The tyre is the culmination of years of gravel development by Hutchinson – a journey that began with the Overide, a fast rolling tyre designed to allow riders to stay fast on the tarmac as rides began to stray from the road.

As the discipline has grown so has the Hutchinson range. Next came the Touareg, a standout performer on dry, hard-packed gravel designed for the all day epics that typified the explosion of gravel riding into the mainstream.

Now as gravel bikes become more capable and riders continue to push both the discipline and their equipment to the limits, the Tundra comes at a perfect time for all. A true all-rounder designed to tackle terrain and conditions previously reserved for Mountain Bikes.
