Campagnolo is a premium road cycling brand with deep heritage, founded and based in Vicenza Italy. The meticulous production and end results of their groupset components are unmatched, and their hand-built wheels are some of the best in the industry. Carbon and Titanium is used in abundance for ultimate durability and the lowest weight possible.
Stiffer, lighter and more aerodynamic, the new Bora Ultra WTO series showcases the beauty of speed.
The Bora Ultra WTO 60 exists to turn every last watt in to pure speed. Its impressively light weight and efficiency ensure that you not only reach the finish in contention, but also have the ultimate tool to emerge victorious.
The advanced, wind tunnel optimised profile of its 60mm deep carbon rim, promises sharp, confident handling in all conditions. All-new aero spokes with hidden nipples reduce aerodynamic drag, while CULT ceramic bearings minimise friction. Campagnolo’s beautifully moulded carbon hub body is securely bonded to a light aluminium hub flange, and integrated radial spoke seats ensure perfect alignment.
As with all Bora Ultra wheels, the rim bed is undrilled, making tubeless installation simple, and seriously increasing the rim’s integrity and torsional rigidity.
It’s a sprinter’s, rouleur’s and time triallist’s dream.
The 2-Way Fit rim is suitable for tubeless, tubeless-ready or clincher tyres in widths from 23mm, but is aerodynamically optimised for 25mm tyres.
Main Benefits
Ultimate Aerodynamics
- Around 80% of the time in the saddle, riders typically encounter wind angles of between 10 and 20 degrees, and the Bora Ultra WTO 60 is unequalled at overcoming drag in this situation, occasionally yielding negative drag, also known as the sailing effect.
- The hub’s hourglass shape and specially designed flanges reduce its frontal area and subsequent turbulence.
Perfect Alignment
- Campagnolo mould the nipple and valve holes into the rims, so no carbon fibres are cut by drilling.
- Each spoke hole has an internal nipple seat, wrapped into the rim’s carbon layup, which is specifically aligned to the intended hub.
- Aero Mo-Mag nipples are perfectly aligned with each spoke for a more accurate wheel build, with reduced localised stress and improved fatigue life.
Stop and Go
- All of the new Bora Ultra WTO wheels are designed for AFS (centerlock compatible) disc rotors.
- Campagnolo’s unique G3 spoke system counteracts the main source of torque at each hub.
- CULT ceramic bearings keep the Bora Ultra WTO hubs spinning freely for 5 ½ times longer than standard steel bearings.
- Oversized 36 tooth ratchet freehub is fast to engage and very durable, plus it accepts N3W, XDR and HG freehub bodies.
Technology
CULT - Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology
Campagnolo’s finest ceramic bearings are fitted to only the very best hubs and cranksets, and are a significant upgrade from all other bearings. Their premium quality ceramic balls are incredibly round and hard, and rotate within wear-resistant stainless steel races, which are engineered to micron-precise tolerances, maximising efficiency and durability. They won’t deform or corrode, perform consistently over time, and only need periodic cleaning then lubricating with light synthetic oil.
CULT bearings have a friction coefficient 40% lower than standard sealed bearings, and in tests, can spin for 5 ½ times longer.
G3 Geometry
Campagnolo’s unique G3 spoke pattern comprises groups of three parallel straight-pull spokes, arranged in a 2:1 ratio. Having twice as many spokes on one side allows wheels with G3 to counteract the asymmetric drivetrain and braking forces acting on them, creating more symmetric performance and equalising the load. Energy transfer and lateral rigidity are improved, and spoke tension is optimised, reducing stress and increasing lifespan.
All Campagnolo disc brake wheels utilise the G3 pattern, the front wheel has more spokes on the disc brake side, and the rear is biased to the drivetrain side.
N3W
N3W is our future: a single standard to manage all the Campagnolo cassettes… present, past and... Still to come!
N3W is a patented standard for a freewheel body engineered to house 11-, 12- and 13-speed cassettes with 9-, 10- and 11-tooth starting sprockets: Next 3 Ways. It is also still compatible with older 9- and 10-speed cassettes.
One ring to rule them all!
- N3W has the same groove profile as the classic Campagnolo body but it is 4.4mm shorter, making it lighter.
- N3W is directly compatible with the new Campagnolo cassettes with 9- and 10-tooth starting sprockets.
- To make it compatible with ALL of today’s cassettes with 11-tooth starting sprockets, simply use the N3W ring (kit ring + ring code AC21-N3W) which makes them the same length as the classic body.
Classic Campagnolo Body - Compatible with 10-11-12 speed cassettes.
N3W Campagnolo Body - Optimised for cassettes starting with sprockets with 10 teeth or less.
N3W Campagnolo Body + N3W Adapter - Backward compatibility with 10-11-12 speed cassettes.
Areo Mo-Mag
The innovative Mo-Mag system allowed external spoke nipples to be positioned from inside the rim using a magnet, with no need to create additional holes in the rim bed for them. Aero Mo-Mag takes it a step further, with a completely internal, hidden system, which maximises aerodynamics, and allows the rim to be built lighter.
The internal fibreglass-reinforced polymer nipple seats are specific to each rim and hub combination, ensuring perfect spoke and nipple alignment, and reducing real-world stress on each component. Any spoke tension adjustment can still be easily carried out in the conventional way, using the supplied proprietary Torx tool.
H.U.L.C. Handmade Ultra-light Carbon
Bora Ultra WTO rims are built using Campagnolo’s new H.U.L.C. process, which is an evolution of the unique carbon moulding process that already creates defect-free rims requiring no additional finishing. Optimising the carbon fibre and proprietary resin ratios used, alongside process improvements, guarantees consistently accurate forming of the 2-Way Fit tyre hooks and other details.
The Bora Ultra WTO rims are the lightest Campagnolo have ever made in each depth, but still deliver identical stiffness, and improved mechanical resistance, when compared to the already notably reliable non-H.U.L.C. rims.
C-LUX Finish
Fast wheels must be functional and look the part too however, so the rim (and front hub) also sports a stunning mirror-like Campagnolo Luxury (C-LUX) finish.
This C-LUX finish is so pristinely smooth and without defects that it doesn’t require lacquer, saving weight. When applied to the rim bed, as done for the first time with the new Bora Ultra WTO, the scientific precision of C-LUX also helps to ensure the safest possible seating of tubeless tires, increasing their pressure seal, the install/uninstall ease and further and further reducing the risk of abrasions to the bead.
Campagnolo Wheel Identification Card
Since its birth over 80 years ago Campagnolo has been dedicated to continuous innovation in order to produce the best, most competitive and reliable products possible. To continually push the limits in this way is the work of the engineers of the Campy Tech Lab. Even the smallest details and material choices are painstakingly scrutinised in an effort to produce what is often to become the newest performance standard. As a result, our testing department is one of the most important areas of the entire operation and each and every product must go through strenuous and extreme testing before it earns the right to bear the Campagnolo name. Campagnolo test at levels above and beyond anything required and as a result produce products that are a step ahead.
- Fatigue test: before the manufacturing stage, each wheel and each of its components are subjected to long and very challenging tests that ensure the durability and performance over time.
- Crash test: simulates the impact of the wheel in differing situations. Campagnolo crash tests have successfully passed all requirements stipulated by the UCI.
- Tyre burst test: all Campagnolo wheels are tested at inflation pressures well above those indicated on the tyre.
- Environment test: exposure to UVA and UVB rays, salt attack and exposure to moisture: these are the tests that all Campagnolo wheels must pass to ensure maximum performance and reliability over time.
100% Manually assembled and Electronically checked.
The extensive attention to detail and testing mentioned above may be sufficient for some companies to ensure the quality of their product but not for Campagnolo. To ensure the quality of each and every wheel the standards applied to the production process must be then verified on each and every final product at the end of fabrication. Campagnolo made a clear and bold decision: to assemble each wheel manually and submit it to a series of final inspections that guarantee their quality.
Only through in-depth inspection, both manual and digital, of each and every piece of every final product that leaves the premises can Campagnolo be 100% sure of the exact same quality for each and every wheel that bears the Campagnolo name.
- Balancing: guarantees the absence of vibrations at fast speed.
- Lateral and radial control: guarantees the perfect alignment of the wheel to ensure precise rolling of the wheel.
- Camber: ensures the perfect symmetry of the wheels with the bicycle.
- Spokes tension: ensures optimal balance at every point of the wheel.
- Rolling torque of the hub: ensures a perfect adjustment of the hubs.
Certilogo
Campagnolo and Certilogo against counterfeiting: a tangible answer that protects our clients’ safety and purchases.
Top-end Campagnolo wheels are considered by the market and by afi cionados to be reference products and as such are highly desirable. They have therefore also become appetising to counterfeiters who have cloned some of our models (especially those in carbon fibre) releasing considerable numbers onto the international markets. The wheel is a performance product, but also a safety component. This aspect means that those who purchase a fake product, while saving money on something that clearly costs much less than the going market price, puts their personal safety at great risk. The materials and production processes that together help to achieve a safe performing product are obviously not the same.
With the aim of fighting and combating these counterfeiters, Campagnolo is the first in the cycling sector to have put in place, thanks to the support of Certilogo, a control system that enables our clients to authenticate the product simply and immediately.
Starting with the products in the 2015 catalogue, each pair of Campagnolo wheels in the Bora and Hyperon lines will come with an individual ID code (the Certilogo Code or CLG Code) on a swing tag attached to a spoke on the wheel and, from July 2018, on an adhesive stuck to the rear wheel.
The Certilogo Code (in both numerical and QR code format) will allow anyone, before or after purchase, to check that the product is authentic. To authenticate Campagnolo wheels, just visit www.certilogo.com, insert the CLG Code or download the Certilogo APP.
We suggest you keep the Campagnolo Original Wheels tag even after product authentication for possible future use and, for wheels bought from July 2018 on, leaving the sticker with the Certilogo Code on the wheel.
