Quarq grew from a need for a power meter that was accurate and affordable for a math-obsessed triathlete in 2006. By 2007, a factory had been built in Spearfish, S.D. and prototype power meters had been demonstrated at InterBike in Las Vegas. In June 2008, the company shipped its first power meter.
Quarq became a SRAM brand in 2011. With SRAM’s drivetrain expertise and Jim Meyer’s power meter expertise, the groundbreaking SRAM RED Quarq Power Meter was developed. This was the first power meter to be integrated into a groupset and remains the industry standard.
Today, Quarq designs and manufactures data and digital technology products for cyclists in every discipline and at all levels of expertise.
In certain disciplines, the single-ring drivetrain reigns supreme. Championing simplicity, strength and durability, the SRAM RED 1 AXS power meter meets the demands of triathletes, time trialists and cyclocross racers. The power meter features improved aerodynamics thanks to direct mount aero chainrings with fully integrated power, and the tighter gearing range is perfect for racing and flatter terrains.
Technology
Exogram
Our Hollow Carbon Construction starts in the crank arm and extends into the crank’s spider, maximizing the stiffness to weight ratio.
X-SYNC
SRAM X-SYNC 1x chainrings provide the highest level of performance and durability. The SRAM X-SYNC tall square teeth edges engage the chain earlier than traditional triangle shaped teeth. The sharp and narrow tooth profile, as well as rounded chamfer edges, help manage a deflected chain. To provide the best possible performance in muddy conditions, the X-SYNC chainrings have been designed with mud-clearing recesses for the inner chain links and rollers. Engineered in Germany, X-SYNC rings are an integral part of the SRAM 1x drivetrain. Accept no imitation.
AXS
AXS is SRAM’s new bike component integration system that connects electronic bicycle components and software. The SRAM AXS app allows riders to see battery status, change component behavior, personalize controls, get maintenance reminders, and update firmware.
DUB
The relationship between bottom bracket spindle and bearing is the core of DUB technology. It’s where stiffness meets durability. SRAM took it a step beyond conventional thinking and made everything simpler—better integrating the relationship between chainring, crank, spindle and bottom bracket. It’s this approach to developing a complete system that equals better drivetrain performance.
DZero
Quarq’s next-generation DZero power meter platform is named for the D0 Experiment, one of science’s most accurate and innovative projects to detect subatomic particles moving at the speed of light.
X-Range
Road bikes are faster and more capable than ever before, and riders are expanding what’s possible with drop bar bikes. X-Range is gearing for today’s road riding. They completely reimagined road gearing for wider range, more useful and smoother gear progression, as well as smarter shift settings—enabled by AXS. With X-Range, you’re always in the right gear.
