From the Smooth Welding frame joints to the incredibly neat Integrated Carrier 3.0, it's a design masterpiece in its own right. From zipping across town to tackling mountain passes you've never ridden before, the Kathmandu EXC is designed to get you there - and back - in comfort and style. We chose Shimano's 3 x 10 XT gears for their deserved reputation for reliability and ease of use. Then we added powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, so you know you're in full control at all times. Finally, we selected an easily adjustable Suntour air suspension fork to take the edge off rough road surfaces. With our Integrated Carrier 3.0 and a full complement of accessories - including mudguards, kickstand and lights - you've everything you need. Just jump on and go...

We've taken everything that's good about the Kathmandu and made it even better. So, for example, the reworked Integrated Carrier 3.0 is designed to work seamlessly with our Acid mudguard. We've fitted a flat mount for the rear disc brake - it also accommodates the kickstand - and used Smooth Welding to give the frame joints a tidy, organic appearance. But it's not all about looks. We also equipped the rear end with a thru axle and added a tapered head tube for improved rigidity and steering precision, even when fully laden. With internal cable routing to keep your gear shifts smooth with minimal maintenance, we reckon we've thought of everything. Just don't forget your toothbrush...

Features

Cube's Aluminium Superlite starts with heat-treated 6061 aluminium, which has the qualities - high fatigue resistance, good stiffness, low weight and excellent strength - that are important for a bicycle frame. Then we make it into double butted tubes, to reduce weight without sacrificing any of its strength. The result? Exceptionally light, strong and tough frames.

Smooth Welding isn't easy, but worthwhile things usually aren't. It has two advantages. First, and most obviously, it looks great: one tube seems to almost flow into the other. Second, and at least as importantly, it helps to minimise load peaks on welded areas for better frame strength and durability.

The Integrated Carrier 3.0 is the next level in system integration: from the side, it's hard to tell where the luggage carrier ends and the mudguard begins. But it doesn't just look good, it's also incredibly strong and rigid. With an integrated spring clamp and Cube Rilink ready adaptor for mounting bags and baskets, it transforms your Cube into an adaptable and versatile load carrier.

Our trekking series is designed to take you wherever your curiosity leads you. So, of course, you'll want a comfortable ride.
