With the new Bora WTO 60, Campagnolo has focused on producing the most efficient wheels possible in terms of decreasing rolling resistance as the cyclist moves and maximising aerodynamic efficiency.

The acronym WTO - Wind Tunnel Optimised – calls to mind the environment that the team of Campy Tech Lab engineers worked in to meet these challenging project objectives. The new Bora WTO 60 wheels feature exclusive design characteristics that establish new standards in aerodynamic efficiency. Directly from the wind tunnel to the market, the pair of Bora WTO 60 wheels is destined to become the necessary choice every time a cyclist faces a route that requires average speeds of more than 40km/h.

The Bora wheelset has been pushing the limits of long lasting, reliable and race-winning performance since its introduction in 1998. Through its long and prestigious history the Bora has evolved and continued its trend of not only winning races but by offering, with each new model solutions and technologies that not only improve the cycling experience but raise the standard for performance road-racing wheelsets in general. Bora has become the gold standard in carbon racing wheel solutions for many reasons ranging from reactivity, handling and featherweight yet reliable construction.

The Bora WTO project took this portion of the wheel's DNA as a central design focus and the Campy Tech Lab dedicated its energies towards pushing the limits of aerodynamic efficiency even further. The result of this task force's labor comes in the form of two wheels, the Bora WTO 77 and Bora WTO 60.

The Bora WTO 60, available as a pair, is much more versatile in terms of rim height and overall weight. 670g for the front and 880g for the rear makes for a 1550g total package which renders the Bora WTO 60 capable of offering not only superior aerodynamics over a wide variety of terrain, but do so without a compromise in terms of weight.

The Bora WTO Wheels are also 2-Way fit allowing you to run Tubeless tyres for ultimate speed.

The 2-Way Fit rims are ready for immediate tubeless use without rim tape, designed for tyre widths from 23mm, they’re aerodynamically optimised for 25mm tyres.

Main Benefits

The Most Aerodynamic

  • The rim design enables the maximum amount of aerodynamic penetration when the wind angle is between 12° and 19°, making it a thrust for triathlon athletes.
  • The streamlined design of the central part of the hub decreases the frontal area of the component whilst the special design of the flanges favours airflow detachment.
  • The 18-spoke elliptical cross section in the front and 21-spoke rear cross section in the rear result in a far superior rolling resistance of the cross sections compared to competitor wheels.

The Smoothest

  • The well-known USB cup-and-cone bearing system guarantees smoothness in the ceramic bearings.
  • The 2-Way Fit profile allows you to mount either a clincher tyre or a tyre which offers the least rolling resistance possible: the tubeless tyre.
  • The C19 class allows you to mount tyres from 23, 25 to 28mm, with perfect pairing of the rim-tyre system.

Choose Aero... But Make It Campagnolo

  • Campagnolo's ride-ability remains high despite the focus on aerodynamics.
  • The wheel structure enables reducing energy dissipation, transferring all the energy produced by the cyclist to the asphalt.
  • A 60mm profile and a weight of 1547g for the pair makes this wheel ideal for riding on routes that enable going more than 40km/h.

Technology

USB Ultra Smooth Bearings

Perfectly smooth surfaces and lower friction to reduce loss of power are the most interesting features.

Add on the reduced weight and resistance to corrosion and you will understand why Campagnolo can give you the best thanks to USB. All your power will be transferred onto the road.

Campagnolo has a long-standing reputation for the extremely high performance of its hubs in terms of smoothness and reliability. In fact, all the projects are entirely developed in our R&D department Campy Tech Lab and Campagnolo have put obsessive care into taking care of every detail.

The hubs with USB ceramic bearings (Ultra Smooth Bearings) further enhance the wheels' smoothness and reduce weight and the need for maintenance. Comparative tests have shown that USB bearings are 50% smoother than standard bearings.

Now improving your performance during the race or simply going for a ride with your friends will be easier.

USB - Ultra Smooth Bearings - technology is used for Record cranksets and for the new Shamal Ultra wheels.

G3 Geometry

Campagnolo’s unique G3 spoke pattern comprises groups of three parallel straight-pull spokes, arranged in a 2:1 ratio. Having twice as many spokes on one side allows wheels with G3 to counteract the asymmetric drivetrain and braking forces acting on them, creating more symmetric performance and equalising the load. Energy transfer and lateral rigidity are improved, and spoke tension is optimised, reducing stress and increasing lifespan.

All Campagnolo disc brake wheels utilise the G3 pattern, the front wheel has more spokes on the disc brake side, and the rear is biased to the drivetrain side.

AC3

It is a general consensus of opinion within the cycling world is that one of the major drawbacks of the carbon fibre racing rim is the reduced rim braking performance in the wet. To combat this problem Campagnolo has developed the All Conditions Carbon Control, or AC3 Technology.

The introduction of the meticulously researched textured design of the rim brake area creates a surefooted stopping power that is reliable and potent no matter what the weather will throw at you. On the Campagnolo Bora rim brake wheelset range, under dry conditions, the new technology increases braking performance by 3% compared to the previous Bora while increasing the distance from its closest competitor by over 6%. However, it is when the weather conditions deteriorate that the AC3 technology permits the Bora to excel increasing braking performance an astonishing 43% over previous Campagnolo models.

The powerful braking of AC3 represents a nearly 55% performance gap over that of its closest competitor making for a significant advantage when the heat of the race is on.

Features

Wheel Developed In The Wind Tunnel

Every wheel component, from the rim to the hub and the spokes, is designed to guarantee maximum aerodynamic penetration.

Rim Made Entirely Of High Modulus Carbon

The rim made of unidirectional carbon ensures the ride-ability Campagnolo is known for.

Special Brake Blocks For Carbon Wheels

The special compound boosts braking performance on both wet and dry surfaces, without increasing the wear rate of the pad.

Cup-and-cone Bearing System

Easy to register balls/bearings - reduced possibility of ball/bearing play - precise cycling operations - steady performance levels.

Hub Structure In Lightweight aluminium That Is Extremely Stiff And Aerodynamic

This was optimised in the wind tunnel and designed to reach elevated performance levels for stiffness and weight.
