About Ridgeback
Details
The Ridgeback Horizon is a practical, no-nonsense trekking bike for riders who want to get things done. Built from Reynolds 520 chromoly steel and fitted with everything needed to ride all year round, it is as comfortable on a canal towpath as it is on the daily ride across town.
Its 26-inch wheels are a deliberate choice. Smaller wheels are stronger for their weight, quicker to get up to speed and more resilient when heavily loaded, which makes them a sensible fit for potholed town streets and loaded trips alike.
A Shimano CUES 2x9-Speed drivetrain pairs a 46-30T chainset with an 11-36T cassette for a wide spread of gears that handles hills comfortably with a full load, and Shimano MT-200 hydraulic disc brakes give consistent, progressive stopping with little effort at the lever, whatever the weather.
An AtranVelo Explorer front rack and an AtranVelo AVS rear rack with a 27kg limit come fitted, and the AVS system lets compatible panniers, baskets and bags go on and off in seconds. Full-length mudguards, puncture-resistant Vittoria Randonneur tyres and an AtranVelo Parko HV kickstand complete a bike that asks very little maintenance of its rider, and its frame and fork carry a lifetime warranty.
