Sometimes when something looks right, it just is right. The brand-new Phenix C:68X SLX's ultra-clean lines hint at a purity of purpose. It looks fast, and it is fast - something that we made sure of with careful component selection, premium carbon construction and fastidious attention to detail.

Getting as fast as possible from A to B cross-country demands components that won't let you down. That's why, for the Phenix C:68X SLX, we started with Sram's all-electronic XO Eagle Transmission groupset, to put a huge range of gears at your fingertips. A RockShox SID SL Ultimate fork, lightweight Newmen Advanced SL X.A.3 wheels, grippy Schwalbe 2.25in tyres and ultralight Schwalbe Aerothan inner tubes all help keep the rubber side down for speed and control. The integrated carbon bar/stem combo is light and comfortable. And powerful Magura MT8 Pro brakes mean you can go faster, for longer.

We know a thing or two about making fast cross-country race frames, but the new Phenix C:68X moves the bar even higher. How? For starters, we used our premium C:68X carbon for the ultimate in low weight, high strength and ride comfort. We redesigned the seat tube junction to incorporate an integrated seat clamp. It's a small touch, but - along with internal cable routing - it complements the frame's clean aesthetic and elegant, organic lines. And there's an adjustable angle headset, so you can tweak your bike's handling to suit your own taste.

Combining all our expertise from carbon frame building into the ultimate material, C:68X carbon uses the optimum blend of fibre and nano particle-infused resin. Precision Advanced Twin Mold manufacturing means we can avoid bonded sleeves or inserts, too. It's the new benchmark for light, stiff and strong.

A wider hub makes a stiffer wheel, and a stiffer wheel means better handling. That's the thinking behind the Boost 148 rear hub standard, which allows wider flange spacing for better wheel performance without impacting on shifting accuracy or drivetrain efficiency. Simply put, you can go faster and harder with better handling and stronger wheels.

Cables connect your handlebar controls to vital components like gears and brakes, but there's no need for them to get in your way. With Internal Cable Routing we've reduced clutter and maintenance by running cables through the frame, keeping them out of the way of dust and water contamination - or damage from abrasion - as well as cleaning up your bike's appearance.

For off-road riding you need a bike that responds quickly, but also feels stable and secure. That's where Agile Ride Geometry comes in. A dropper post is a great accessory for adventurous riding, adding confidence and control on steep descents. Our Dropper Post Ready bikes are all set for this worthwhile upgrade, because they include internal cable routing for the remote lever that controls the seatpost. Once installed, you'll forget it's there... until you need it.

With our Advanced Twin Mold process we use two precisely manufactured forms for our C:62, C:68 and C:68X carbon frames. The first form is to ensure an accurate layup. The second, inner form keeps every individual fibre precisely where it needs to be while the frame cures. The result is a significantly lighter, stronger frame, with fibre density tailored to anticipated loadings at specific points.
