What's better than the Kathmandu hybrid from Cube for taking in the views on a grand tour? The new, lighter Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLX from CUBE, obviously. With its C:62 carbon frame, new Bosch SX motor and full complement of accessories, it's the ideal lightweight hybrid tourer for adventurous souls.

With its sophisticated C:62 carbon frame and rigid carbon fork, the Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLX 4X has the same rugged appeal as its illustrious forbears, but with a new focus on lower weight. The new Bosch SX motor and Kiox display with 4Wh battery continue the svelte theme, delivering up to 55Nm of smooth torque via Shimano's wide-ranging Deore 1x12 gears and rugged Newmen Beskar 3 wheels shod with grippy Schwalbe G-One Overland 5mm tyres and ultralight Schwalbe Aerothan tubes. There is, of course, a full complement of practical accessories so you're ready for anything, whether it's a trip across town or overland. And, with powerful Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes, you can slow and stop safely in all weather conditions. It may be light, but it's no lightweight.

A lighter touring bike means you can take more with you, but low weight is no good without strength. That's why, for the Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62, we used our tried-and-tested C:62 carbon to build a frame structure that combines the load-bearing capacity you need with the comfort and ride handling that you'd expect from CUBE. With a future-proof UDH gear hanger, advanced internal cable routing and Boost front and rear axles, it's both elegant and easy to live with. The rigid carbon fork is light and responsive, while the IC 3. rear carrier is adaptable and offers a sturdy platform for carrying whatever you need to take with you. Add the 4Wh battery, and it's the complete package for lightweight hybrid touring.

Features

Not all carbon is created equal. With our C:62 carbon we increased the high modulus fibre content, then we reinforced the resulting material with nanoparticles incorporated into the bonding resin. Which is all just a fancy way of saying it's extremely strong, light and durable.

How important is material choice? When it comes to the fork that holds your front wheel, more important than you might think. Not only is our Carbon Fork exceptionally light and strong, it's also surprisingly comfortable to ride. And, when you're weaving your way through city streets, those are all qualities that you'll appreciate.

Gear and brake cables need a way to get from handlebar controls to frame - but what if there was no need for holes near the head tube? We came up with a design that takes cables into the frame via the headset, maintaining full internal cable routing but making it even neater and less obtrusive.

Bosch SX technology incorporates a new, lighter and more configurable battery setup. To make the most of the weight saving, we've integrated the new battery fully into the down tube. This means we can position it optimally for the best weight distribution and handling, as well as saving more weight by building a down tube that's precisely the right size to fit, and without the need for an access hatch. And the Power More option means you can add an additional 25Wh battery quickly and simply, for extra range. It's the best of both worlds.

The Integrated Carrier 3. is the next level in system integration: from the side, it's hard to tell where the luggage carrier ends and the mudguard begins. But it doesn't just look good, it's also incredibly strong and rigid. With an integrated spring clamp and Cube Rilink ready adaptor for mounting bags and baskets, it transforms your Cube into an adaptable and versatile load carrier.

A wider hub makes a stiffer wheel, and a stiffer wheel means better handling. That's the thinking behind the Boost 148 rear hub standard, which allows wider flange spacing for better wheel performance without impacting on shifting accuracy or drivetrain efficiency. Simply put, you can go faster and harder with better handling and stronger wheels.

One standard for all: gear hanger replacement made easy thanks to the innovative Universal Derailleur Hanger. With a design that includes some room for pivoting to help prevent chain jams, it improves shifting performance and works with all drivetrains. Best of all, it's a standard part that is available anywhere.

With our Advanced Twin Mold process we use two precisely manufactured forms for our C:62, C:68 and C:68X carbon frames. The first form is to ensure an accurate layup. The second, inner form keeps every individual fibre precisely where it needs to be while the frame cures. The result is a significantly lighter, stronger frame, with fibre density tailored to anticipated loadings at specific points.
