Combining lower weight with the same super-versatile load capacity of its illustrious counterparts, the Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLT 4X from Cube is the ultimate Bosch-powered grand tourer. When only the best will do, it's time to break out Shimano's XT components. Famed for their ease of use, precision and dependability, the wide-ranging 1x12 gears and powerful hydraulic disc brakes are the obvious choice for our Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLT 4X. We also selected Bosch's new SX motor and Kiox display with 4Wh battery, for up to 55Nm of pedal assistance with a significant weight saving. Combined with the lightweight C:62 carbon frame, full carbon fork and carbon Newmen Phase 3 wheels plus superlight Schwalbe Aerothan inner tubes, the result is a significantly svelter grand tourer. It's just as practical as ever, though, with our super-sturdy IC 3. integrated carrier and a full complement of accessories. Across town or across continents, it's got your back.

A lighter touring bike means you can take more with you, but low weight is no good without strength. That's why, for the Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62, we used our tried-and-tested C:62 carbon to build a frame structure that combines the load-bearing capacity you need with the comfort and ride handling that you'd expect from CUBE. With a future-proof UDH gear hanger, advanced internal cable routing and Boost front and rear axles, it's both elegant and easy to live with. The rigid carbon fork is light and responsive, while the IC 3. rear carrier is adaptable and offers a sturdy platform for carrying whatever you need to take with you. Add the 4Wh battery, and it's the complete package for lightweight hybrid touring.

Features

Not all carbon is created equal. With our C:62 carbon we increased the high modulus fibre content, then we reinforced the resulting material with nanoparticles incorporated into the bonding resin. Which is all just a fancy way of saying it's extremely strong, light and durable.

How important is material choice? When it comes to the fork that holds your front wheel, more important than you might think. Not only is our Carbon Fork exceptionally light and strong, it's also surprisingly comfortable to ride. And, when you're weaving your way through city streets, those are all qualities that you'll appreciate.

Gear and brake cables need a way to get from handlebar controls to frame - but what if there was no need for holes near the head tube? We came up with a design that takes cables into the frame via the headset, maintaining full internal cable routing but making it even neater and less obtrusive.

Bosch SX technology incorporates a new, lighter and more configurable battery setup. To make the most of the weight saving, we've integrated the new battery fully into the down tube. This means we can position it optimally for the best weight distribution and handling, as well as saving more weight by building a down tube that's precisely the right size to fit, and without the need for an access hatch. And the Power More option means you can add an additional 25Wh battery quickly and simply, for extra range. It's the best of both worlds.

The Integrated Carrier 3. is the next level in system integration: from the side, it's hard to tell where the luggage carrier ends and the mudguard begins. But it doesn't just look good, it's also incredibly strong and rigid. With an integrated spring clamp and Cube Rilink ready adaptor for mounting bags and baskets, it transforms your Cube into an adaptable and versatile load carrier.

A wider hub makes a stiffer wheel, and a stiffer wheel means better handling. That's the thinking behind the Boost 148 rear hub standard, which allows wider flange spacing for better wheel performance without impacting on shifting accuracy or drivetrain efficiency. Simply put, you can go faster and harder with better handling and stronger wheels.

One standard for all: gear hanger replacement made easy thanks to the innovative Universal Derailleur Hanger. With a design that includes some room for pivoting to help prevent chain jams, it improves shifting performance and works with all drivetrains. Best of all, it's a standard part that is available anywhere.

With our Advanced Twin Mold process we use two precisely manufactured forms for our C:62, C:68 and C:68X carbon frames. The first form is to ensure an accurate layup. The second, inner form keeps every individual fibre precisely where it needs to be while the frame cures. The result is a significantly lighter, stronger frame, with fibre density tailored to anticipated loadings at specific points.
