Two wheels are where it's at for getting around town. Designed to fit seamlessly into the urban landscape and your busy life, the Editor Hybrid SLT 4X's belt drive gears and lightweight Bosch SX motor make it the ultimate way to beat the traffic and arrive in style.

Appearances can be deceptive. Beneath the Editor Hybrid SLT 4X's understated, clean lines lurks a sophisticated modern transport solution with your name written all over it. Featuring a built-in 4Wh battery and mini controller for the lightweight Bosch SX drive unit, we chose a maintenance-free and clean Gates belt drive and Shimano's 11-speed Alfine hub gears for the ultimate in get-on-and-go ease of use. Powerful Shimano Cues hydraulic disc brakes give you all the stopping power you need in any weather, delivered to the road via Schwalbe's wide and tenaciously grippy Marathon Efficiency 5mm tyres. With the lightweight full carbon fork, it's practically an E-Bike superhero in disguise.

A practical urban bike should be elegant, understated and versatile. That's why, for the Editor Hybrid's frame, we started with lightweight and durable aluminium and then added Smooth Welding at the main tube joints - so it has a clean, almost organic appearance. Cables are fully integrated for longer service life and to complement the uncluttered aesthetic, and we even integrated the 4Wh battery in the down tube and mini controller in the top tube. And the full carbon fork is light, strong and suits the frame's pared-back aesthetic. We think we ticked all the boxes.

Features

How important is material choice? When it comes to the fork that holds your front wheel, more important than you might think. Not only is our Carbon Fork exceptionally light and strong, it's also surprisingly comfortable to ride. And, when you're weaving your way through city streets, those are all qualities that you'll appreciate.

Gear and brake cables need a way to get from handlebar controls to frame - but what if there was no need for holes near the head tube? We came up with a design that takes cables into the frame via the headset, maintaining full internal cable routing but making it even neater and less obtrusive.

Bosch SX technology incorporates a new, lighter and more configurable battery setup. To make the most of the weight saving, we've integrated the new battery fully into the down tube. This means we can position it optimally for the best weight distribution and handling, as well as saving more weight by building a down tube that's precisely the right size to fit, and without the need for an access hatch. And the Power More option means you can add an additional 25Wh battery quickly and simply, for extra range. It's the best of both worlds.

A gravel bike is a supremely versatile beast, which is why all our gravel models have a fender and rack option. With generous frame clearances to fit comfortable, safe and grippy tyres even with full length mudguards, we also neatly integrated the rear rack into the mudguard design - and included a rear light, too.

Carrying your belongings, shopping or work bag just got a little easier. Our new HIC (Headset Integrated Carrier) fits simply, neatly and very securely on the front of your Cube bike to add accessible, stable and versatile load-carrying capacity. With the ability to safely accommodate a Eurobox of 3mm x 4mm, up to 2kg in weight and RILink accessories, you'll wonder how you managed without.

Smooth Welding isn't easy, but worthwhile things usually aren't. It has two advantages. First, and most obviously, it looks great: one tube seems to almost flow into the other. Second, and at least as importantly, it helps to minimise load peaks on welded areas for better frame strength and durability.

CUBE's Aluminium Superlite starts with heat-treated 661 aluminium, which has the qualities - high fatigue resistance, good stiffness, low weight and excellent strength - that are important for a bicycle frame. Then we make it into double butted tubes, to reduce weight without sacrificing any of its strength. The result? Exceptionally light, strong and tough frames.
